Eastern Oregon is the eastern portion of Oregon which is arid and sparsely inhabited. Much of it is desert and semi-desert. It covers between a third and a half of the state's land area. There are several mountain ranges running through this area ie: Blue Mountains which rise up substantially from the surrounding plain and which are forested with stands of Ponderosa Pines and Larch.
